PROJECT
Trafford Housing Trust needed an informative way to share important safety protocols.
Flow Creative created an animated film with playful characters to effectively communicate fire safety best practices to a broad audience.
ROLE
I contributed to this project as Lead Animator, working on intricate scenes that required multiple character actions and interactions. I also worked on the majority of the fire and smoke animations.
ANIMATION
The visuals and style were meant to be engaging, cartoony, and quirky, but at the same time, the animation also needed to feel grounded and tactile. To achieve that, we had to find a balance between bounciness and weight.
The characters needed to feel playful, but also credible in their movement and actions. In the majority of the scenes I worked on, I had to approach the animation as a continuous action, rather than relying on looping walk or run cycles.
Many of the actions involved uninterrupted sequences, such as a character walking down a flight of stairs, slowing to a stop, and opening a door.
